“The days that I am unable to ride, I feel like my day is not complete.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Use 3 words to describe who you are?
Christian, Family, Athlete
2. How long have you been riding a bike?
I have been riding competitively for about 5 years.
3. Do you ride for recreation, transportation, or both?
I ride for health and recreation
4. What do you enjoy most about cycling?
 I enjoy that cycling is a chance for me to be alone with my thoughts. I have been a competitive cross country mountain biker for several years so I spend a great deal of time on a bike in training mode.  The days that I am unable to ride, I feel like my day is not complete.  My favorite days are the ones on my training schedule that read “Free ride day.  Just have fun”.  Those are the days that are good for my soul. I can work out just about any problem on a beautiful sunny day on my bike in the woods.
5. What would you love to see for bicyclists in Hutto?
I would like to see improved shoulders for designated bike routes within the city as well as from Hutto to surrounding cities like Taylor and Round Rock to make it easier for those who have the ability to commute on a bicycle to do so safely.
6. Anything more to add?
I enjoy riding the trails with my husband Brian who is also part of the Bike Hutto community.
“Bicycling is what made me fall in love with living in Hutto.  You can discover so much more about a town when you get out of the car and either bike or walk it!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. What is your occupation?
Founder of Bike Hutto
2. Use 3 words to describe who you are?
Wife, Gardener, Advocate
3. How long have you been riding a bike?
Despite riding a bike when I was a kid, I was always a little fearful of falling (having been klutzy and doing it quite often!)  Taking up bicycling as an adult last year meant conquering years of pent-up fear and balance issues. But my desire to get out there and ride was stronger. Now the fears are gone and there’s no looking back!
4. Do you ride for recreation, transportation, or both?
I ride for both.  We made the choice to be a one-car family which means biking as transportation is a necessity.  It’s great since it means getting on the bike even when the weather is less than perfect.
5. What do you enjoy most about cycling?
I love the feeling of freedom and adventure that comes when you hop on your bike.  But I think what I love most is that bicycling is what made me fall in love with living in Hutto.  You can discover so much more about a town when you get out of the car and either bike or walk it!
6. What would you love to see for bicyclists in Hutto?
For Hutto to eventually become a League of American Bicyclists certified ‘Bicycle Friendly Community’.  That encompasses so much of the discussions that have started about better bicycle infrastructure (bike lanes, bike racks, trail systems), social events, and safety education.  Hutto is in the perfect position to start thinking about and incorporating all of these things into it’s future planning!
7. Anything more to add?
I am so excited for what the future hold for Hutto bicyclists!  Let’s climb on and enjoy the ride!
