 Hello My Name Is_Brian

Brian Grubbs ProfileBrian Grubbs
“It’s my time to exercise all my frustration out and help live a healthy lifestyle at the same time.”
1. What is your occupation?
City of Hutto Police Sergeant
2. Use 3 words to describe who you are?
Husband, Rider, Not as funny as I think I am
3. How long have you been riding a bike?
I’ve been riding consistently since 2005 and racing since 2011.
4. Do you ride for recreation, transportation, or both?
I primarily ride for recreation, training, and racing.
5. What do you enjoy most about cycling?
It’s my time to exercise all my frustration out and help live a healthy lifestyle at the same time.  As I get older, maintaining my fitness and physical ability to do want I want to do becomes more important to me.  Racing gives me something to strive for, a purpose for all my training, and that extra motivation to ride today.
6. What would you love to see for bicyclists in Hutto?
Larger shoulders to bike through Hutto.  I’d like to see our trail system connect into other county trails.  Social ride groups that can split into skill levels to get more people riding a bike.  A sustainable pump track in one of our city parks to attract more kids to ride bikes and for us old guys to develop skills.
7. Anything more to add?
I spend 5-6 days a week on a bike and ride around 200 miles a week on mountain bike trails and the roads in our area.  I participate in about 15 races a year ranging from mountain bike XC races to ultra endurance mountain bike 24 hour solo races.  I spend time with some of the local bicycle shops and clubs in the area to lead or help with group rides ranging from beginners to advanced riders.

The Community of Cyclists Campaign is an effort by Bike Hutto to show the wide variety of people in Hutto that bike.  The campaign will promote the fact that there is no one “type” of person who rides a bicycle.  They are our friends, our neighbors, our students, and our colleagues.  It is always best to put a face to the name, whether you’re talking about bike safety, future bike infrastructure, or social events.  Hutto is about community.
